Everything up!
The new hardware and software has been installed. Everything seems to be running stable after having monitored the server over the past few days.
So what has happened.
1) 4 new 1TB disks have been applied, this time Enterprise disks (Western Digital RE4 Enterprise) instead of (Western Digital Black Series), hopefully they will perform better.
2) 5 second disk monitoring interval to insure quick response to faulty disks.
3) RAID 5 with 1 Hot-Spare instead of RAID 10.
4) New server OS (Ubuntu Server 10.10).
5) VirtualBox instead of VMware Server. (Unfortunately VMware ESXi was not an option since the RAID controller was not supported).
6) Decreased the amount of virtual servers to two instead of 3.
Hopefully these steps will resolve in a more stable operation, at-least now we will have the possibility to respond faster to faulty disks as a result of better monitoring options.
